Introduction

This week’s 2 Tips helps you to find the right program evaluator for your organization. Many professionals are wary of high costs, cumbersome steps, and a long drawn-out, painful process. This doesn’t have to be your experience.

Use these two tips to think through what you do and don’t need.

We commend you for taking this very first step towards advancing and refining your practices.

Tip 1

Decide whether you’re looking for a specialist to assist with embedding program evaluation practices into your organization or someone to run an evaluation study.

Tip 2

Develop an RFP that also requires potential program reviewers to describe how your staff team will or won’t be involved in the program evaluation process. After all, your staff team is the gold that makes the important work happen!

How to decide what I need

Here is 8 QUESTIONS FOR FINDING THE RIGHT PROGRAM EVALUATOR which provides a short list of questions to ask yourself, your colleagues, and all potential program evaluators. By collecting answers and reflections from several individuals, you can distill a firm understanding of what is best for your organization.

Great resources for writing a RFP

Reflect further

If you want more “food for thought” on choosing the best program evaluator and what that person will help you to do, listen to this 1-hr podcast discussion called Evaluating Your Impact: Basics For Smaller Charities by Ann M. Duffett and president Steve Farkas of The Farkas Duffett Research Group. They do some mic dropping in this recording!

Why did we develop 2 Tips videos?

The Anchoring Success team trusts the talent and sophistication of professionals in community-based organizations. We know that many professionals and organizational leaders do not have the funds to partner with specialists (like us) and/or the time to strategize on what might seem like extra projects.

Therefore, we launched these 2 Tips videos to support you with making tweaks, adjustments, and refinements in programs and operations — doable for busy professionals like you!
